Our hands are vital to how we connect with the world. At Body in Motion we have recognised this by establishing a first-class hand therapy service to provide specialized care for this complex part of the body.
Our hand therapists in Mount Maunganui have undergone extensive postgraduate training to enable them to provide a level of expertise and treatment unmatched in a general physiotherapy setting. They are highly skilled in creating custom splints that are molded to your body, ensuring perfect fit and comfort while you recover from your injury. Fibreglass and soft-casting options are also available if needed, as are a huge variety of pre-fabricated splints. When treated under ACC, there is normally no charge for any of the splints provided.
Our Mount Maunganui-based hand therapy specialists are deeply aware of how debilitating it can be to lose normal use of your hands, and – whether it be work, sport, or leisure – we can help you get back to doing what you need to do.
If you’ve had surgery to your hand, wrist, or elbow, we can help you heal, recover, and get back to full strength. We routinely see patients from both Grace and Tauranga Hospitals, and can treat a wide variety of conditions. From management of the surgical wounds all the way through to preparing you for return to work, we can skillfully guide you through this challenging time.
We have ties with many of the competitive sporting teams in the Bay of Plenty, and have treated athletes at representative level in sevens, rock climbing, volleyball, and sailing. Depending on your injury there are often splinting options we can provide that will allow you to return to sport earlier, and reduce the chance of getting re-injured.
